12-Year-Old Willow Smith Gets Emo, Samples Radiohead On New Track

Willow Smith has been catching the public eye for some time now. From her eccentric style to the “stuck in your head for a week” tune “Whip My Hair,” she has a pretty impressive presence for someone who hasn’t even hit her teenage years. But just because she isn’t there age-wise doesn’t mean that Willow isn’t experiencing some of that lovely adolescent angst that most of us went through at some time or another. (My golden years for it were about 12 through 16.) Need proof? Just check out her newest track, which features lines like “Inject my soul with darkness, and take my heart and go market it,” and “They want to puncture me and wonder why I bleed.” It also samples a Radiohead song, and as a former teenage Radiohead fan (and a current adult Radiohead lover), I know what that means. It means lil’ Willow is growing up. But just because her song is angst-filled doesn’t make it bad!
